"What
if God was one of us?"
Marina Oliveira 7ªB
Beginning
of the XX century. New York. Harlem. Central Park. Right in the
middle of the park where when it's summer, trees are green and lots
of flowers cover part of the green grass, and when it's winter the
snow can't be whiter and softer.
That's where I
met Sarah.
It was summer,
kids were already dismissed from c1ass that day and the Central
Park couldn't be fuller of thousands of smiles coming from boys
and girls all over the park. I loved that. One of the greatest things
about living in New York: The Central Park. Even when it was full
and loud it was still a calm and beautiful place. I used to enjoy
spending my afternoons there, watching kids having fun, but that
changed that day. I never thought it could, but it did. I discovered
a new amazing and incredible world.

I
was watching some boys playing with the ball when my attention suddenly
tuned to a group of girls pointing at a beautiful blond girl reading
a book. They were laughing but I couldn't understand why. I looked
very carefully at that scene just to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
I mean, I was actually looking at a bunch of girls laughing at a
sweet and adorable girl reading a book under" a tree. I needed
to know why. So I went to the group's direction hoping I was going
to get some sort of information.
When
I was already very close to them I turned to what it seemed to be
an 8-year-old girl, who I expected do be the leader. She was the
one 1 had to talk to.
"Excuse me,"
I started "My name is Andrew..."
"Hi,
Andrew!" they replied all together, not giving me a chance
to continue. 1 didn't know if that was adorable or extremely mean.
"Hi"
I said it just to be polite; they were looking at me as if they
wanted to attack me. "I couldn't help noticing that you, beautiful
girls, are laughing at something and it would be very nice of you
if you told me because 1 could really use a joke right now."
1 said the whole sentence smiling.
