Interview with Paulo.
The interview with Paulo Eduardo Machado was very cool and interesting. In April, at Projeto Vida school, there was Paulo, the English teacher Fanny and all the students of 8th grades.
He is married and has a teenage daughter. Her name is Maria. He was born in Bauru, Brazil and he is 48 years old, nowadays he lives near Horto Florestal.
When Paulo was 17 years old, he moved from Ribeirão Preto to São Paulo after his parents died and decided to give English classes for making some money.
Paulo took an exchange course when he was a teenager.
He attended to USP (University), he is graduated in Pedagogy (English and Portuguese), in movie making (cinema) and animations on TV. For about five years he worked in a TV station and after this, started working in Newsweek Magazine.
Paulo is an editor. At the magazine he is in charge of developing a project for high school students. He has created many exercising activities with a staff in order to work with the articles from the magazine. The articles come from the New York headquarter to Paulo. His routine isn’t simple! He receives, reads the whole PDF and selects different subjects, makes classes for the magazine, makes meeting reunion with his colleges and prepares the design and talks to illustrator about his articles. For preparing his articles Paulo needs one week! For the magazine every week Paulo prepares three articles and visits schools for “teaching” the teenagers.
He has worked in the magazine since 2008.
Paulo likes very much his job, he said he never stopped working because his job is his life!
For make his proposal Paulo bases himself, on the public age, uses the philosophy and his life experience.
In his free time he likes practicing sports, taking pictures, riding a bike, traveling, working the land in his ranch etc…
I liked to know: Paulo has moved from 38 places! And every week he travels for some place. Paulo has studied Spanish for two years.
Paulo knows English because when he was 12 years old his father obligated him to study English and he didn’t like very much.
He has worked in three offices: Two in other state and where he works more is in his house.
I liked very much to know Paulo and it was a very interesting and “different” experience. I hope there will be other interviews and opportunity to practice English with intelligent people like him!
